Handwashing can give you close control over a delicate garment, but it is not permission to wet-clean everything. Begin only when the maker allows it. Keep dry-clean-only or otherwise restricted items out of the routine unless you have specific professional guidance.

The useful method is gentle and repeatable. It does not need long soaking times, vigorous scrubbing or an elaborate collection of additives.

Prepare before adding the garment

Use a clean basin with no residue from other household products. Read the label for the permitted temperature and the detergent’s instructions for suitability and dose. Dissolve or disperse the product as directed before introducing the piece.

Separate colours or finishes that should not be washed together. Fasten hooks where appropriate and keep sharp jewellery away from fragile fabrics.

Move the solution through the fabric

Support the garment in the water rather than pulling it by its straps. Use gentle movement and follow the maker’s specified time. Bravissimo’s bra-care routine uses careful handling rather than wringing or forceful scrubbing. [C3]

Give attention to the areas that actually need cleaning, without treating lace or embroidery as a surface to scour. A persistent mark may need specific advice rather than a stronger version of the same motion.

Rinse according to the product instructions

For a rinse-required detergent, use clean water until the product is removed appropriately. Follow a specialist wash product’s directions rather than assuming every formulation behaves the same way.

Do not add household chemicals to “improve” a routine. The label and the suitable care product already define the method; a mixture introduces another untested variable.

Remove water without distortion

Support structured parts and avoid twisting the garment. For pieces whose instructions allow towel pressing, use a clean absorbent towel and gentle pressure rather than wringing. products are an exception and need their own care Page.

Arrange the item for drying according to its instructions. The washing is not finished if the garment is left damp in a heap.

Make the routine easy to repeat

Set aside a drying space before you begin. Keep the suitable wash product and a clean towel available, and wash a manageable quantity rather than overcrowding the basin.

After the piece is fully dry, inspect its condition before returning it to storage. A new , loose hook or exposed wire needs attention rather than being hidden in the drawer for the next wear.

The goal is not a perfect ritual. It is a practical process you can follow often enough to keep the garment comfortable and ready to use.
